I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Berea College, a Paralegal Certificate from Villanova University, and a Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law. I have paralegal experience in real estate closings, wills and trusts, and estate probate, and attorney experience in an ever-growing variety of legal areas. I am especially passionate about working with families with children, and initially opened my firm intending to be primarily a family attorney. As my practice developed however, I realized that by limiting my services I was only able to help my clients with very limited issues in their lives. When my husband Andrew suggested the slogan, “Your Family’s Attorney,” a play on my original focus in family law, the message of this slogan resonated with why I became an attorney, to help my community. Legal issues can be complicated and overwhelming, and often occur during an emotionally vulnerable time in a person’s life. The last thing anyone needs to worry about is figuring out what type of lawyer the situation needs and trying to find an attorney to help. By expanding my services into general practice I am able to be the attorney that my clients can come to and refer their family and friends to no matter what legal problem they are facing. If I can’t personally handle a particular type of law I can recommend an attorney that I trust that does handle that type of matter, thus removing one big stressor in the legal process.
When I am not practicing law, I spend my time working on my garden and an ever-growing list of home renovation projects, reading, or going places and doing things with my husband and teenage stepson.
I am a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Women Lawyer's Association, and The Center for Women.
